Poringland - All Saints This is the largest parish church in the benefice serving the larget community.Average Sunday attendance is about 50 with service held every week at 9.30am. Once a month there is an All-age worship service, often lay led, which is also when our baptism services are normally held. On the other Sundays we hold a 'Common Worship' Communion Service. Adjoining the church is an Octagon Meeting room with accompanying vestry, toilet and kitchen facilities. These are used throughout the week by various adult and children's groups from within the church and by the wider community.
Framingham Earl - St Andrews The parish church is tucked away on the outskirts of the community on the Framingham Earl to Yelverton road.It is a small, picturesque building and is becoming an increaingly popular choice for weddings. Sunday morning services are predominantly Eucharistic (Common Worship) and take place on the first three Sunday of each month at 8am and 11.15am. There is a faithful congregation of mostly retired people with attendances averaging 16 for a normal service but this quickly rises to 40+ for the major festival occasions, and to 70-80 for tha annual Christmas concert.
This is the smallest active parish in the Poringland Benefice serving the 50 or so people who live in the hamlet of Howe. Two Sunday services are regularly held each month on the third and fourth Sundays, though this arrangement usually changes for Easter and Christmas. Main Sunday services are the traditional Book of Common Prayer (BCP) communion service. There is a small but loyal congregation which averages from 9 to 10 and a kitchenette and toilet extension has recently been added to enhance the building.
Poringland Village Hall Located centrally within the parish of Poringland this is a new initiative begun in February 2005. The aim is to reach out to all age groups who feel more comfortable with an informal service. It is led by a lay team which continues to grow in gifting and confidence. It meets at 11am on the second Sunday of each month and regularly attracts 20 - 30 people who prefer and/or support the alternative form of worship / outreach effort. We continue to be encouraged by the attendance of people and families who do not attend a church service elsewhere and this remains the main area of focus and our main challenge for the future.
