| Poringland/Framingham Earl Churches Together
We have done much together, but it was, perhaps most evident at the time of the Millennium celebrations when we took the lead in organising the local events that marked the beginning of the new Millennium. Recently we have drawn doser together by the formation of a development group to look into the possibilities of becoming more involved within the community. One of our decisions was to formalise our relationship by linking with Churches together in England. We believe that in our increasingly materialistic and secular times there are many who long for deeper meaning in their lives. Between them, Churches Together offer many opportunities for people to satisfy this longing and come together to share their experiences. Above all, they offer the love of God shown to humanity in the person of Jesus.
We have a regular and loyal congregation of 20 to 25+ and you will be assured of a warm welcome to what is a warm and open family church. We recognise there are new opportunities of ministry within the Benefice and our endeavour is, to play our role in sharing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ across the wider community.
Framingham Earl Methodist Church
This church exists for the worship of God, the proclamation of the Gospel and to provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere in which people can meet in Christian Fellowship; we are committed to caring and serving the community. Our Sunday worship is held at 10.45am when we also have n Sunday Club for children aged between 3 and 13 years. One of a group of Methodist churches that go to make up the Norwich circuit, Framingham Earl also has a wide range of activities during the week including bible studies, prayer fellowships and various meetings of a more general nature. The premises are also used by other community-based organisations, including a playgroup and mothers and toddlers dub. The luncheon club for the elderly and housebound, organised by all the churches, also meets here.
Methodists have worshiped in Framingham Earl since the early decades of the 19th century. In looking forward we try to be a community of faith, relevant to the present day, in which people can explore issues of belief and life.
Wellspring Poringland Free Church
We opened on Sunday, 23rd September 2001. Our members believe that they have come to know the God through Jesus Christ and seek to love and serve God, each other and the local community. We aim to show the relevance of following Jesus and how He can help us meet life's daily challenges. Our family services on Sundays at 10.30am have an informal structure and normally have modern songs, prayer, teaching time (talk or drama activity) and communion. We like everyone to feel welcome and comfortable so that people can just sit and listen or take part in various ways. Afterwards there is a time for refreshments and a chat. On Thursday evenings we meet in members homes to look at what the bible says about life, to share our thoughts and feelings, and pray in ways that help and encourage us in our Christian lives.
